Southwest Regional State has dismissed its state Minister for Presidency, Mohamed Abdullahi Mursal, South West Presidency confirmed.
Mursal who has been serving the office since 2015 was relieved of his deputy for unspecified reasons.
In a Presidential decree, Southwest leader, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden replaced Mursal with Ibrahim Adan Ali.
Ali who is immediate former governor of Lower Shabelle region was said would taking the office with the effect of the appointment date.
Meanwhile, Southwest leader on Sunday appointed Mohamed Ibrahim Bare as the new governor of Somalia’s breadbasket region, Lower Shabelle.
Bare assumed the office of governorship yesterday following a ceremony held in Marka, the headquarters of the Lower region.
The new governor pledged to improve security and economy of the region which been plagued by inter-clan clashes and fighting between Somali military and Al-Shabab.
Speaking at the handing over event, Barre said his administration will closely work with Somali forces and AMISOM troops in the region to annihilate Al-Shabab from the region.
“We will collaborate with Somali National Army (SNA) and AMISOM in the fight against Al-Shabab and restoration of stability and security in the region,” said Barre.
Al-Shabab fighters control several towns and villages in Lower Shabelle region.
The group has training bases, its own court and reinforcement bases in the region.
