NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Education and agricultural sectors are expected to boost as foreign relations between Kenya and Somaliland grow.
The breakaway Somaliland’s minister for Foreign Affairs, Saad Shire who is Kenya said his country seeks to ensure its ties with Kenya are cemented.
Mr. Shire has held a meeting with Keny’s National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale on means to improve the relations between the sides.
He expressed his state’s wish to learn more from Kenya including good governance and among others.
“We have so much to learn from Kenya especially on governance and constitutional democracy,” Mr. Shire said.
During the meeting Duale, Mr. Shire urged the Kenyan government to organise a meeting for the leadership of Kenya and Somaliland.
According to Daily Nation, Mr. Shire also met with Kenyan Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma. During the meeting, the two discussed ways of strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Dr Juma said Kenya would open up a liaison office in Somaliland capital Hargeisa.
During the meeting, Mr. Shire invited Kenyan investors to explore the opportunities available in Somaliland.
“We have so many openings for Kenyan investors. We also need to look into how we can work with Kenya in the area of education. We already have Kenyans teaching in our primary and secondary schools and in our universities,” said Mr. Shire.
