HARGEISA (Halbeeg)- Somaliland Minister for Health has dismissed the planning director for the ministry after the officer allegedly invited his friend from Jubbaland state in Southern Somalia.
Somaliland declared independence in 1991 when Somalia’s central government was overthrown.
In a statement on Wednesday, Somaliland Minister for Health, Hassan Ismail Yussuf said Mohamed Hamud Ahmed was sacked after he was found guilty of breaching the standing orders of the ministry.
According to local media, Mr. Ahmed was fired over allegations that invited his friend who is planning director of Jubbaland state’s ministry of Health.
The two officials reportedly held a covert meeting in Hargeisa, the administrative capital of Somaliland.
Mr. Ahmed did not comment on the sacking and allegations levelled against him.
Despite restoring peace and maintaining political stability, Somaliland failed to secure international recognition from the International Community.
