Somali Upper House on Tuesday agreed unanimously to appoint a parliamentary committee to investigate the attack on the residence of senator of Abdi Qaybdiid.
Following discontent over initial investigation into incident expressed by Abdi Qaybdiid, the 54 member chamber voted in favour of new investigations of the incident to be carried out by members of the Senate.
Four senators suggested that Somalia’s premier Hassan Ali Kheyre be summoned to the senate over the incident while 23 three others have voted for the House to appoint parliamentary committee to probe the incident.
The house of the Abdi Qaybdid who is also the chairperson of the parliamentary constitutional review committee was attacked by security forces late last year, a move condemned by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
