MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Somalia’s Federal Ministry of Education confirmed the schools in the country will re-open next week following three months of suspension over COVID-19 preventive measures.
The Minister for Education Abdullahi Godah Barre said the lessons will resume from 15th August next week.
Speaking during a press conference in the capital Mogadishu on Wednesday the Minister said officials have put in place measures to curb the spread of the virus.
The students are expected to follow the ministry of Health guidelines including social distancing, face masks, and gloves during the learning process.
“We have taken care of all the possible situations that can risk new infections during learning.”
The Ministry of Health recorded zero cases on Tuesday for the first time since the first case was reported in the country in April.
According to health data, there are 3227 positive cases with 1728 recoveries and more than 93 fatalities.
