GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – The Federal Member States have formed new political party have today concluded a four days meeting in Garowe, the capital administrative of Puntland.
The leaders of leaders of Galmudug, South West, Puntland, and Jubbaland states agreed on several issues including formation of the new political party ahead of 2020 elections.
In a communiqué availed to journalists, the leaders agreed to form a political party — Hor-u-Socod-Qaran (The National Progressive Party)– which will unite all the four regional administrations of Puntland, Southwest, Galmudug, and Jubbaland.
Speaking following the conclusion of a four days meeting in Garowe, Gaas said the party will have a national outlook bringing together all Somalis and the federal states adding ‘we are hoping HirShabelle will join soon’.
The regional states also noted that all previous security agreements entered with the Federal Government had collapsed following the government’s failure to implement them over the last two years
According to the communiqué, the states will form joint regional forces whose main assignment will be to liberate areas under the control of Al-Shabaab group.
The four leaders said they had tabled the idea and in the next two months, the states will recruit 1,000 soldiers from each Federal Member State (FMS) will ‘integrate and train to fight against Al-Shabaab fighters.
