Somalia’s new ambassador to Zimbabwe has represented his credential letters to the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Damburzo Mnangagwa.
During the welcoming ceremony for six new envoys to Zimbabwe, Jamal Mohamed Barrow has submitted his letters to the President.
Barrow conveyed greetings from President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to President Mnangagwa.
The ambassador held lengthy discussions with Mnangagwa over the relations between Somalia and Zimbabwe.
President Mnangagwa said his government is committed to strengthen its relationship with Somalia.
Barrow who spoke to the media said he will work on the restoration of the two countries’ defunct relations.
“We are here to improve the relations between the countries, I have presented my letters to President Mnangagwa and I convoyed President Farmajo’s greetings to him,” said Borrow.
Barrow has been serving as country’s ambassador to South Africa before transferred to Zimbabwe.
There had been no active Somali embassy in Harare for over two decades since Somali central government was overthrown in 1990s.
Since 2012, Somali government has been trying to re-establish the county’s embassies across the world.
