Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – The inaugural Somali Artificial Intelligence Summit concluded in Mogadishu, marking a significant step in Somalia’s progress in embracing technology for sustainable development.
The summit which ran under the theme “Using Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Solutions,” brought together local and international experts to explore how AI can transform the nation’s socio-economic landscape.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Communications and Technology, Zamzam University of Science and Technology, and the Somali Artificial Intelligence Forum, the summit was officially opened by the Minister of State for Communications, Hon. Ahmed Osman Diriye.
The event featured expert presentations and panel discussions on critical topics, including; Role of Government in Advancing AI, Africa’s AI Strategy 2024-2030, AI and Internet Security, Physical and Social Implications of AI and AI Applications in Agriculture
The conference also explored the role of higher education and research in achieving sustainable development and advancing Somalia’s National AI Strategy.
Zamzam University President Mohammed Mohamud Harbi emphasized the role of Artificial Intelligence in monitoring progress in technologies and fostering societal adaptation to technological advancements.
The summit also served as a platform for Somali policymakers and technology experts to deliberate on leveraging AI to address the country’s socio-economic challenges.
