MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali government on Tuesday said it will review the contraversial elections committee previously formed by the government.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the national theatre, Somali deputy prime minister, Mahdi Mohamed Guleid has assured that his government will reconsider the committee saying the government is committed to hold free and inclusive elections.
Mahdi urged the leaders of federal member states to implement the deal with federal government over the poll by appointing the remaining elections committee.
The remarks of the deputy prime minister comes less than two days after Somalia’s northeastern regional state, Puntland turned down demands by Somali prime minister to appointed the committee.
Deni has sat demands on PM Roble’s request saying the federal troops should be withdrawn from Gedo before the committee is being appointed.
Roble travelled to Garowe last Friday in the hope of convincing Deni to appoint the interim state level elections team to oversee elections of MPs.
