Somalia will hold national consultation on the constitution review, the committee for Review said.
Following two years of the review, the ministry of constitution and the parliamentary constitutional review commitee has concluded the first phase of the constitutional review process.
The committee and the ministry jointly announced that the government will host national conference on the constitutional review and public discussion on the constitution.
The meeting will run for three days between 13th and 15th of this month, according to statement by the committee.
The process will engage all citizens to ensure their view will be represented in the constitution.
The officials said the second phase of the process is needed to be involved by the public for consultation and civic education.
This second phase will bring on board all stakeholders, civil society members, government officials as well as officials from human right groups.
The provisional constitution which was adopted in 2012 by the national assembly provides the legal foundation for the existence of the Federal Republic and is also a source of the country’s legal authority.
