MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The Somali government has confirmed 303 new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 48 hours.
Somali health ministry said the country recorded 198 and 105 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 6,549 cases.
According to the ministry, the disease killed ten people in the last 48 hours, bringing the total number of those who succumbed to the virus in the country to 218.
The country confirmed five recoveries making the number of who recovered from the disease 3,783.
This week, the Somali government has announced that it will all schools and universities for two weeks due to a surge in COVID-19 infections.
The government also banned public gatherings and demonstrations in the country.
Somalia is set to receive 1.2 million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine this February, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
