JOWHAR (Halbeeg News) – Hirshabelle’s President, Ali Gudlawe Hussein, has praised the concerted efforts of the Somali National Army (SNA) and regional forces for their intensified military operations in Hirshabelle region.
The most recent operations have successfully led to the liberation of the strategic town of Runirgod, along with adjacent villages such as Hilowle Gaab and El Ba’ad in the Middle Shabelle region.
Expressing his gratitude, the President saluted the valour of the SNA and local liberating forces for their recent achievements on the battlefield.
He emphasised that the second phase of the military offensive against Al-Shabaab was predominantly aimed at freeing areas west of the Shabelle River, where the militant group still maintains some foothold.
His remarks came as the federal government escalates its campaign against Al-Shabaab in the Galmudug region.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has established a temporary base in Dhusamareb, the administrative heart of Galmudug, signalling a renewed push against the militants.
