Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Somalia and Egypt have agreed to review and enhance higher education and research cooperation following talks between officials from both countries.
Somali Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir and his Egyptian counterpart Ayman Ashour held talks in Cairo.
Both ministers underlined the depth of Egyptian-Somali relations, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The discussions tackled means of enhancing cooperation in the educational and cultural domains, especially the conditions of the Somali students at Egyptian universities. They alsodiscussed and the need for facilitation for Somali students in Egypt.
Ashour stressed that it is a top priority for the ministry to enhance cooperation with Somalia and African countries in line with the strategic approach of the Egyptian political leadership.
The talks also reviewed cooperation between the Egyptian and Somali universities.
Somali Ambassador in Cairo Ilyas Sheikh Omar – who attended the meeting said this is not new for Egypt which is a regional center for serving Arab and African nations to attain their development and stability aspirations.
He thanked the Egyptian political leadership for offering all needed support for Somalia in all development and training domains.
