The minister of education of federal government of Somalia Dahir Osman has officially opened the national examinations of secondary schools in Beledweyne. The examinations that were put off last month after river Shabelle floods in Hiran region started today.
Hiran governor, Abdullahi Ahmed Malin, Hirshabelle youth and sports minister, who is also education minister of hirshabelle state Mohamud Hassan Noor and other officials accompanied the minister during the opening of the national examinations in Beledweyne district.
At least 1400 students in Beledweyne and its suburb sat for today’s examinations that will continue for the next five days.
Speaking to the students, the governor of Hiran region, Abdullahi Ahmed Malin urged the candidates to be confident during examination.
He wished them success in their examinations.
The minister of youth and sports said his is happy that Beledweyne students are doing their national examinations after a delay of one month.
The commander of police station, Mohamed Halane said the security forces are vigilant to keep the security of the examination centers in Beledweyne.
27’600 Secondary School students sat for the examination of the academic year 2017-2018 according to a statement from the Ministry of Education and Higher Studies.
Education minsterof federal government stated that 1400 students whose examinations were delayed due to the effects of the floods will start their examination.
“1400 students who could not sit for the national examinations due to floods will start the examination in Beledweyne” Said the minister.
