Somalia on Friday rubbished the tripartite pact between Somaliland, the government of Etbiopia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Berebera port.
In a statement, the ministry ports said the controversial agreement was an affront to the unity and solidarity of people of Somalia.
The ministry termed the deal illegal as it was not based the regulations of the port ministry which responsible for deals related the sources of the country.
“It is the federal government of Somalia and Somali parliament that can only legalize agreements on Behalf Somali people,” said the ministry in the statement.
The move come barely 24 hours after an agreement reportedly inked the sides publicized.
According to the agreement DP World will hold a 51% stake in the project, Somaliland 30% and Ethiopia the remaining 19%.
The breakaway Somaliland in 2016 signed the multimillion-dollar, 30-year deal with DP World, a Dubai company, to upgrade and manage the Berbera port
