Somalia deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Mohamed Guled has arrived India to attend International Solar Alliance conference in New Delhi.
The delegation of the deputy prime minister was welcomed at airport by the leaders of Indian government.
Mr. Guled held bilateral talks with the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi on Saturday night at the Presidential Palace where a State Banquet was hosted in honour of Somali deputy prime minister.
The leaders had lengthy discussion ranging from trade, security and infrastructure development and bilateral relations between the two nations.
Somali delegates led by Mr. Guled will be attending the conference which kicks off on Sunday.
Prime minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to co-chair the conference which will take place at India’s official home of the president, Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The conference which convenes UN and leaders from over 50 countries will focus on how to mobilize $1 trillion of investments needed by 2030 for massive deployment of solar energy.
According to the ‘ISA Mission’ on its website, the summit will also aim at tapping solar energy in the countries that lie partially or fully between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
The ISA is the first treaty-based intergovernmental organization to be based in India that aims to help sunshine-rich developing countries to tap solar energy at more affordable prices.
