MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali government has declared Prophet Muhamad’s birthday a public holiday.
The country will mark event on this Thursday as the Muslim calendar.
In a statement, Somali ministry for has congratulated all Muslim to the upcoming event.
The event to mark the day is celebrated on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar.
The ministry said the day should be observed through prayers that will highlight significance of the day to Muslims.
“The ministry hereby informs all civil servants and all other workers that on Thursday, 29th of October corresponding 12-Rabi al-awwal-1442, which is the birthday of Prophet Muhamad (pbuh) will be public holiday,” the statement reads in part.
For Muslims, the Prophet Muhamad is cherished the world over because he was the light, leading mankind from ignorance.
