MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali government confirmed that former al-Shabaab amniyat leader in Benadir region was once in its Mogadishu jail after he convicted of being a member of the group.
Mr. Abdiwaahid Khalif Abdi alias Ise Tarabuun was in 2017 arrested over terror charges and arraigned in a military court which sentenced him two years in jail.
According to the Somali ministry for Information, Tarabuun released after completing the jail term.
“When Abdiwahid (Tarabun) having completed 2 years jail term which was a military court sentence, he was release in accordance with the Constitution. After his release, his movement and situation have been under rader,” said Information Deputy Minister, Adan Isack Ali.
The minister did said when Tarabuun released from jail.
The story Tarabuun came to the light after Kenya police acting on Intelligence report said the man entered Kenya on 24th September.
Kenya claims Tarabuun traveled from Mogadishu via Salaam Airline heading towards Nairobi but is at large.
“He was briefly interrogated at Mogadishu airport while waiting for his flight before he was allowed to travel,” police said.
Its Twitter handle, the police asked Tarabuun to report to the nearest police station with immediate effect.
They also asked Any person who has seen him or has information about him should also do the same immediately or contact the police by calling our toll free lines 999,911,112.
“The National Police Service wishes to inform Mr. Abdiwaahid Khalif Abdi alias Ise Tarabuun whose photograph appears below, a Somali national believed to have arrived in Kenya on September 24th, 2019 to report to the nearest police station with immediate effect,” the Twitter post. “Any person who has seen him or has information about him should also do the same immediately or contact us by calling our toll free lines 999,911,112.”
