MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News)- Officials from Somali and Turkish governments have held talks on energy and water in the Somali capital on Friday
In a Twitter post, Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu said Turkish ambassador to Somalia, Mehmet Yilmaz accompanied by other officials the embassy had paid a visit to the country’s new Energy and Water Minister, Fowzia Mohamed Sheikh.
The ambassador has congratulated Ms Sheikh for her appointment as minister.
Mr Yilmaz and the Minister have discussed issues related to the energy and Water management systems of both countries.
“I paid a courtesy visit to Fawzia Mohamed Sheikh the Minister of Energy and Water Resources congratulated her for her assignment as a minister,” reads the post. “We had a fruitful discussion on the ongoing cooperation between our two countries in energy and water management.”
Ms Sheikh was appointed for the post early this month along with two other Minister of Labour and Constitutional Affairs.
Somalia and Turkey enjoy very close strong diplomatic, economic and defence relations since 2011.
The Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu is the largest Turkish embassy in the world.
