Kuwait City (Halbeeg)- The governments of Somalia and Kuwait will cooperate on development and enhancing the bilateral the relations following talks between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.
Ahmed Issa Awad, Somali Minister foreign on Tuesday held talks with his Kuwait counterpart, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad in Kuwait city.
The two ministers discussed wide range issue including bilateral relations, trade, development and regional security.
In a statement posted on the official page of Kuwait Foreign Ministry, the government of Kuwait said the ministers reviewed on cooperation and relations between the countries.
“They reviewed aspects of the close bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields and means of enhancing them, and discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas,” the statement reads in part.
Mr. Awad is expected to hold talks with other leaders in the Gulf Nation.
The State of Kuwait is supporting Somalia in many fields including education, transport and social affairs,
Kuwait was among several Arab countries eying to Somalia’s lucrative markets.
Kuwait’s Energy Company (KEC) in 2016 submitted a proposal to help Somalia in exploration and the developing country’s oil and gas sector.
In the 1980s, oil majors including ConocoPhillips (COP.N) Chevron (CVX.N) and T (COP.N), Chevron (CVX.N) and Total (TOTF.PA) held exploration concessions in Somalia.
The companies left when the nation descended into chaos in 1991.
