NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenya and Somalia governments have inked cooperation and security deal on Monday months after Kenya paused the construction of security wall on the Kenya-Somalia border.
Foreign minister from both Kenya and Somalia, Monica Juma and Ahmed Isse Awad respectively have today met in Mandera town on Kenya’s border with Somalia to strengthen cooperation on combating terror attacks and build capacity on boosting economic potential at the border point.
During the meeting, Ms. Monica said people to people unity and information sharing will lead to success goals.
“Signed and exchanged confirmed minutes of the Ministerial segment of the Second Session of the Kenya-Somalia Joint Commission for Cooperation with my counterpart Hon. Ahmed Awad in Mandera County,” she said.
On his part Somali Foreign Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad said Somalia will cooperate with Kenya on the fight against Al-Shabaab.
He commended the relations between the two countries.
The move amid Somali Prime minister Prime minister, Hassan Ali Kheire is in Kenya to discuss with Kenyan leaders on security and relation issues.
The prime minister and his delegation arrived in Nairobi following an official invitation by Kenyan authorities.
