MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia and Djibouti have ended the recently diplomatic rift between the countries following President Farmajo’s visit to Djibouti.
The diplomatic raw erupted early this month after Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo called for the lifting of the UN sanctions on Djibouti’s foe, Eritrea.
Djibouti lashed out at the president’s call terming it as ‘deeply shocking’ adding it would not tolerate such talks ‘Djiboutian young men and women are yet defending Somalia’s peace and stability’.
On Thursday, Somali President went to Djibouti to hold talks with the leader of the tiny East African nation, Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The leaders held lengthy discussions on wide range issues, including Somalia’s stance on Djibouti-Eritrea border dispute.
According to Somali Foreign Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad, Somalia expressed its readiness to mediate Djibouti and Eritrea to resolve hostilities between the horn of African nations.
After talks between two concluded, Djibouti Foreign minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said Somalia and Djibouti will remain strongly interrelated despite the recent scramble.
“President Farmajo’s visit to Djibouti today (Thursday) and his meeting and consultation with president Guelleh reaffirms the solidity of the relationship,” Youssouf said in a Twitter post.

Somali presidency said the discussion between the two leaders discussed the bilateral relations of the two countries.
“The Presidents discussed the strengthening of the brotherly relations of the countries, improving the cooperation on economic and political relations,” Villa Somalia said.
