MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia and China have agreed to enhance their bilateral relations following a meeting between Somali deputy prime minister, Khadar M. Guleid and Chinese ambassador to Somalia, Qin Jian.
The meeting which took place on Saturday in Mogadishu also focused on efforts to tackle COVID19 with Sinopharm vaccinations.
“The Somali DPM has met today in Mogadishu with China Ambassador to Somalia @AmbSomQinJian. They discussed the bilateral relations between Somalia and China covering many sectors and continuing efforts to tackle COVID19 with Sinopharm vaccinations,” Somali information ministry said in a statement.
The meeting comes barely a week after Somalia received 200,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by China to boost the war against COVID-19 pandemic in the Horn of African State.
Last Wednesday, Somalia’s health ministry rolled out doses of Sinopharm vaccine.
Somalia and China signed their first official trade agreement in June 1963.
The Republic of Somalia campaigned for an end to China’s diplomatic isolation and strongly supported its admission into the United Nations.
