GAROWE ( Halbeeg News) – Somali troops stationed at Puntland regional state of Somalia have retaken Af-urur days after armed group al-Shabaab re-captured.
Special forces launched operations to retake the town and succeeded without any resistance.
Fighters retreated after the forces from Puntland state arrived.
Forces are conducted operations to clear explosives and other booby traps intended to cause harm.
Security forces stationed at the small town left three days ago before al-Shabaab fighters repositioned.
Efforts by the militants to retake the mountainous town in Bari region several times before was futile.
Puntland state security agencies repulsed al-Shabaab attacks in 2016.
