Somali traders in South Africa have taken to the streets to protest against xenophobia attacks which claimed the lives of many Somalis living in this country.
In recent years, dozens of armed gangs hailing from hosting community have been carrying out attacks on Somalis in different parts of the Southern part of the country.
The demonstrations orchestrated by Somali community leaders have taken place in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and several other remote areas including Memalodi which was recently engulfed by the attacks.
Protesters who were carrying placards and boards were chanting words against xenophobia attacks.
The demonstrations come as South African gangs and racists started an unprecedented wave of assassinations targeted with Somali community members.
Somali National News Agency (Sonna) quoting its correspondent in South Africa said Somali traders have expressed concern over the reignited xenophobia attacks.
Each year many Somalis are killed in South Africa, some were set on fire in the middle of the night while in a deep sleep.
Millions of dollars-worthy Somali owned properties are also robbed annually.
