Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is expected to open the third session of the Federal Parliament which resumes today.
The President will open a joint sitting of the both the Upper and Lower Houses at the Police Academy in Mogadishu.
The third session is expected to be the busiest session as the members have several draft bills to debate.
Despite the bills. the lawmakers are schaduled to debate on number of issues that deleveped since 16th December when the MPs went on recess.
Key among them are the constitutional review process, 5% sales tax imposed by finance ministry, the contraversial Berbera Port deal and the companies draft bill.
Following the protests over the introduced sales tax, the Trade and Finance parliamentary Committees called on the ministry of Finance to table the new regulations on the tax before the parliament on 30th April.
The ministry is expected to submit the revenue collection and expenditure disbursement regulations as to pave the way for the revenue collection.
Seperately, the trade ministry will submit the country’s first companies bill to the parliament.
The bill which was approved by the cabinet on 19th February will give foriegn and local investors chance to start companies.
The draft bill is also significant as the country plans to establish itself as regional commercial hun of continent
