Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is in Djibouti where he is expected to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart, President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh.
Sources close to the presidency indicated that the discussions are expected to touch on the current situation in the Horn of Africa, the upcoming AU-led AUSSOM mission, and Djibouti’s unwavering support for Somalia.
The sources further said the visit is part of a broader African tour aimed at strengthening Somalia’s bilateral ties with other nations on the continent.
Djibouti is part of the troop contributing countries to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which is set to formally commence in 2025.
Djiboutian forces are currently stationed in central Somalia as part of the ongoing regional stabilization efforts.
