MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali police vowed to step up security of Mogadishu ahead of Idul-Fitri.
In a televised statement, the traffic police commissioner, Mohamed Yussuf Madele has urged the businessmen to collaborate with the law enforcement agencies.
The commissioner directed the traders not to allow cars parked in front of their premises.
“We urged the traders and shopkeepers to station their workers at the pavement near the trading to stop drivers from parking their vehicles in front of the business centre,” he said.
He vowed that police will tow any vehicle found parked along the road and pavements.
“The police will make sure to tow any car in those areas. We warn the drivers against leaving their vehicles without occupants along the roads and shopping centres,” he warned.
Madale urged the public to avoid congested areas saying the public should maintain vigilance while shopping.
“You may see thousands of people gathering one area to shop. We want the public to minimize the crowding one area during the shopping time,” he stated.
The commissioner warned drivers against defying the directive of the law enforcement agencies.
“We will not allow drivers to disobey the officers, and it is unacceptable to see drivers breaking the law, the officers will take action against those drivers who break laws,” he said.
