MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali police have detained a suspect in connection with leaked exam papers barely two days after the government crossed out the national examinations.
Minister for Education, Abdirahman Godah Barre has last Monday announced that the ministry canceled the Nationwide form four exams following exam malpractice.
In a press conference, Somali police chief, Bashir Abdi Mohamed said the security agencies successfully managed to nab suspect who allegedly leaked exam.
“The police have arrested a man who is suspected to have taken part in leaking exam papers, the agencies will carry out further investigation to hunt down the remaining suspects,” he said.
Gen. Bashir has identified the suspect as Jamaluddin Hassan Hersi working with the ministry of education.
According to the police, the exams were leaked in Balanballe district of Galmudug state.
The police said Hersi who is the first prime suspect was in charge of the exam supervision.
According to the ministry of Education, the new examination papers will be prepared for the students.
The exams are set to take place from 27th to 31 of this month which the ministry said that the country will block all social media to avoid exam irregularities.
