MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble is today expected to travel to Garbaharey town in southern Somalia ahead of the parliamentary and presidential elections which are expected to commence from mid this month.
According to sources at the office of the PM, Roble and his delegation will be flying from Kismayo town, where the PM had been staying for the last four days to hold talks with Jubbaland authorities.
Hundreds of people matched along the road between Garbaharey airport and the town centre to receive the PM and his delegation.
Roble who visits the town for the first time since he assumed the office last year will hold talks with the local authorities and the civil society members.
Garbaharey town is expected to host the elections of about 16 parliamentary seats.
Last Thursday, PM Roble had urged members of the Council of Ministers, State Parliamentarians, the Vice President of Jubbaland, Mohamud Sayid Aden and politicians representing the Gedo region of the Jubbaland State to play key role in resolving regional conflicts following a meeting in Kismayo town.
Prime Minister Roble commended the Jubbaland Vice President, Ministers and Members of Parliament for the constructive suggestions they shared, noting the importance of continuing plans to strengthen peace, stability and development in the region.
