Genuine political accommodation and inclusive, consultative decision making are essential conditions for Somalia’s success, Somali PM said on Wednesday.
A Consultative Political Conference has kicked off in the Somali capital Mogadishu today.
Speaking at the conference, Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheire told the participants that conference was very crucial for the country and its people as it will steer the country towards prosperity and better future.
“The objective you gathered here for, basically stands for the future of Somali people. We have convened here come up with future better than the situation we are in today,” Mr. Kheire said.
Mr. Kheire said the outcome the conference will be part of the political solution in Somalia.
The Prime Minister noted the sustainable solutions for country’s longtime problems are needed to drown from the today’s conference.
“Your participation of this conference indicates that you are among the key actors and you are part of those who are drafting a constitution which Somali people will be using for upcoming one hundred years,” he stated.
Mr. Kheire hinted at the possibility of holding one person one vote in 2020.
“Your meeting is a sign that indicates you are discussing means to prepare one man one vote for the country and means to conclude the constitutional review process,” he said.
The conference which brought together delegates from ministries of Interior and Constitutional Affairs will run for four days.
