Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire on Sunday held talks with the chairperson of African Union, Moussa Faki in Addis Ababa ahead of his two-day state visit conclusion.
Prime Minister Kheire arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday evening after receiving an official invitation from Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.
The leaders discussed on a number of challenges facing Somalia including insecurity and governance.
Mr. KHeire said he talked with Faki on means to reach sustainable peace and development.
He said the AU chairperson commended Somali government’s commitment and determinations to rebuild Somalia.
“Held talks with the Chairperson of AU Commission @AUC_MoussaFaki, who paid tribute to the FG leadership for their commitment and determinations and courage in overcoming the difficult challenges and moving Somalia firmly towards the path of sustainable peace and development,” PM Kheire said in his twitter.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Minister for planning and State minister for foreign affairs and other officials from the office of the PM.
This is the first visit, Somali leader pays to Ethiopia since April when Prime Minister Abiye Ahmed assumed office.
Ethiopia has sent hundreds of its troops to help Somali government in the fight against Al-Shabab before they were amalgamated with African Union Mission in Somalia.
