MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre has jetted out of the country on his way to Qatar on Saturday.
The premier will meet senior Qatari official during his visit in Doha aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two Arab states.
“The Prime Minister traveled to Qatar, and he will be meeting senior officials to discuss strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two states,” the office of the prime minister said on its official Twitter account.
Mogadishu and Doha developed close diplomatic cooperation since Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, and Egypt announced blockade on Qatar a year ago.
Somalia, under the leadership of President, Farmajo took a neutral stand on the diplomatic crisis.
Qatar financed ambitious development projects in Somalia as a reward.
It includes the upgrading of 130 KM road between Mogadishu-Jowhar and Mogadishu-Afgoye which was launched by the Somali premier in February.
