Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire has held talks with his Ethiopian counterpart, Dr. Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia on Saturday.
Kheire, who reached Addis Ababa on Friday evening, has met with Ahmed on wide range issues.
The leaders’ discussion was aimed at bolstering the ties of the two countries. They also had lengthy discussions on how to boost the trade and security of the two countries.
Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheire said he talked with Ahmed over the relations of both countries.
“I held a very constructive meeting with H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, the PM of Ethiopia. Discussed crucial bilateral issues of mutual benefit to both countries,” said PM Kheire.
He said “We both reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthen the brotherly relations between our two countries and people”
This will be the first tour, a Somali leader pays to Ethiopia since April when Prime Minister Abiye Ahmed assumed office.
Ethiopia had sent hundreds of its troops to help Somali government in the fight against Al-Shabab.
The troops currently operate under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia.
