MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has welcomed today’s Somaliland poll team leadership elections which took place in Somali capital.
In a brief statement, PM Roble urged the team expediate the election process in the collaboration the federal level election commission.
“PM Mohamed Roble congratulates the elected board members of the Somaliland Electoral Commission SIET on Saturday and urged them to accelerate the election process in collaboration with the FEIT,” the tweet read in part. “PM Roble reiterated that he would continue to reconcile Somaliland politicians.”
The remarks of the prime minister come hours after Khadar Harir Hussein was re-elected as the chairperson Somaliland Interim election team.
In a process boycotted by the faction led by the Upper House Speaker, Abdi Hashi, seven members of the election commission majority previously appointed by deputy prime minister voted for Hussein to chair the team.
The faction led by Hashi include Suleiman Aidid Osman, Abdishakur Abib Hayir, Jama Omar Ali and Mohamed Ali Abdullahi.
All the four failed to turn up after accusing the prime minister of siding with Deputy prime minister, Mahdi Guled.
The election took place at Afisyoni in Somali capital, Mogadishu.
