MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali lawmakers are today expected debate on a report on mast destruction by Kenyan forces.
According to the letter addressed to lawmakers, the House of People will discuss the way forward to deal with the allegations of destroyed masts in southern Somalia.
The lawmakers will read a report on the loss caused by the forces from the neighboring country.
The Somali parliamentary Committee on Communication indicates losses suffered by the companies in the hands of the Kenyan military.
The report prepared by Somalia’s leading service provider, Hormud explains a $1.9 million loss caused by the vandalism allegedly carried out by Kenya.

According to the report, Kenyan forces destroyed Satellite dishes in Khadijo-Haji village near Bula Hawa town, telecommunication mast in Bardhere district, mast in Elbade town in Gedo, satellite dishes in Elwak, mast, and engine in Dhobley, and masts near Qoqani town.
The report says the continued destruction of the companies’ telecommunication masts in southern Somalia has slowed down its efforts to use a mobile platform to offer mobile money transfer and other services to the residents
Kenyan military warplanes had been carrying attacks to destroy telecommunications masts in regions along Somalia’sborder with Kenya.
Kenyan anti-terror unit activities in the region have been persistence in the towns in the last few months, according to residents.
