NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenya’s foreign affairs minister, Monica Juma has said three Somali government officials were turned down at country’s main airport due to lack of visa.
Speaking During a press conference in Nairobi on Tuesday, Mrs. Juma said she does not have all details of the case, but she will be surprised to see if the officials from neighboring state were denied entry while possessing a visa.
“You all know that all of our travel with visa, so if you really don’t have a visa, it will be very difficult to enter a country,” he said.
“I don’t have the specifics of the case, but I will be very surprised if anybody was turned away with visa.”
It was not clear why officials with diplomatic passports have not issued a visa on arrival as per agreement between two states earlier in 2016 on easing travel restrictions.
Somali deputy energy minister, Osman Liban and two senators namely, Ilyas Ali Hassan and Zamzam Dahir arrived at Aden Abdulle International Airport on Tuesday morning after spending their night at Nairobi airport.
Meanwhile, Somalia’s immigration director, Mohamed Adan Kofi said his department is not aware of any changes made by Kenyan authorities for Somali citizens.
