MOGADISHU (Halbeeg)- Somali National Security Council has issued a directive ordering reopening of major roads in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Hundreds of Somali forces who were deployed in different parts of the city had been mounting number of roadblocks to aimed at impeding Al-Shabab attacks in recent months.
In a meeting between Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and the council, the forces were ordered to reopen the roads within 24 hours.
Among the roads ordered to be reopened are 30th-Street, Afisyone and Maka Al-Mukaramma street.
The blockade of the roads blocked with barriers have has inadvertently restricted the movement of people and vehicles.
The Somali government has increased operations hunt down Al-Shabab members and their sympathisers in and outside Mogadishu.
The government troops backed by continental troops have launched offensives against Al-Shabaab fighters in South and Central regions of Somalia.
Meanwhile, Al-Shabab also stepped its deadly bomb attacks in Mogadishu.
In the last two weeks, the group killed over 20 people in suicide bombs that took place at the country’s Interior Ministry and near the presidential palace.
Al-Shabab wants to overthrow the Somali government and install their owned administration in the country.
