DURBAN (Halbeeg News) – Unidentified gunmen have killed Somali trader in South Africa, the latest in string Somali traders killings in southern African nation.
According to sources, the men broke into the shop of late Farah Weyd in Komasha village in South Afric’s Durban before shooting dead the victim.
The attack happened on Wednesday evening.
The robbers have made away with money and valuable commodities before the police arrive at the scene.
No arrest was made so far by South Africa Police
The attack comes barely three days after dozens of shops belonging to Somali and other foreign African nationals were looted and vandalised following raid by irate unemployed South African raided a suburb in Johannesburg.
Xenophobic attacks reignited last week following a meeting held by residents last weekend to discuss unemployment within the Ekurhuleni area.
South Africans often accuse foreigners of taking their jobs, a reason they often use to justify attacks against foreigners in South Africa.
For years, South African police have been accused of being complicit in attacks against immigrants, something that prompted many immigrants including Somalis to possess illegal arms in a desperate attempt to defend themselves and their properties against gangs.
Dozens of Somalis have been killed in South Africa for the past few years. Many of them have had their businesses robbed and seriously wounded.
