Mogadishu, (Halbeeg News) – The Somali National Armed Army (SNA) and Jubaland’s Dervish forces early Wednesday successfully repelled an attack in Raskamboni, Lower Jubba region.
Military sources privy to the operation said the assault was carried out by regional troops under the direction of former Jubaland leader Ahmed Madoobe.
The SNA forces, alongside the Jubaland Dervish which were securing recently vacated ATMIS bases swiftly countered the aggression, maintaining their position and ensuring stability in the area.
In a statement, Somalia’s Defense ministry condemned the attack, accusing Ahmed Madoobe of collaborating with Al-Shabaab militants adding that Madoobe’s forces launched the attack with the aid of the militants.
Further, the ministry stated that Al-Shabaab militants allowed Madoobe’s forces to pass through their territory to carry out the assault, underscoring a dangerous alliance.
The ministry warned that such actions severely undermine national security and represent a betrayal of Somalia’s sovereignty and vowed that all those involved in these subversive acts would face “severe legal punishment.”
The Federal Government of Somalia has reiterated its commitment to defend the country and continue its operations aimed at eliminating terrorist threats in all regions of the country.
