MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – A section of Somali members of parliament has called upon the house to discuss the security situation in the capital, Mogadishu.
The members lashed out at the speaker of the house for not including the security situation mainly in the capital, Mogadishu in the agendas to be discussed in the chamber on Saturday.
They blamed the house leadership for not prioritizing the interest of the nation in the assembly platform.
“It is very unfortunate for the parliament not to discuss the security lapse in the capital,” opposition MP, Mahad Salad said in his Facebook account.
The office of the speaker informed the parliamentarians on Sunday in order to present themselves for a presentation by the constitutional review committee in its first session since the opening on Wednesday last week.
Legislators accused the security apparatus in the country for failing to protect the citizens from the attacks carried out by the armed group al-Shabaab.
Their call comes on the heel of a week-long deadly explosive attack in the city claimed by the armed group al-Shabaab.
More than 18 people were killed on Thursday when a car laden with explosive packed in front of a busy restaurant went off.
