MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Minister for Public Works and Housing of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdifatah Gesey has resigned on Sunday over what he termed interference in Southwest state presidential election.
Speaking during a press conference in Mogadishu, Mr. Gesey announced his resignation citing interference by the federal government into Southwest state elections and illegal arrest of presidential candidate Mukhtar Robow.
“There are nowhere Southwest state administration leaders and federal government principals discussed and agreed to interfere with the election and the arrest of the candidate Mukhtar Robow,” he said.
He urged political leaders and council elders from the regional administration to maintain law and order.
“I call upon the residents of Southwest state to maintain order while exercising their freedom to protests peacefully, ” he said.
Mr. Abdifatah Gesey said he would continue as a member of the house of the people in federal parliament as a representative from Southwest state and serve the interest of his people diligently.
