A military court in Mogadishu has on Tuesday handed death sentence to a soldier who killed a senior navy commander in Mogadishu.
The chairman of the military court, Col. Hassan Ali Shute said the court found Abdinasir Hosh guilty of shooting the deputy navy commander, Saed Marino.
“After listening to the case of Abdirahman Hosh who was arrested for the murder of deputy commander, the court found Abdirahman Hosh guilty of killing Saed Adan Yussuf Marino deliberately therefore the court sentenced him to a death penalty,” Shute ruled.
Hosh killed his senior, Marino in Jaunary this year following a dispute between the two.
Hosh will be the second soldier convicted of killing high rank official in less than a year.
Mid last year, the same court sentenced handed death penalty to Ahmed Abdullahi Ahmed who was found guilty of killing the minister of public works, Abbas Abdullahi Siraji.
The court has not carried out the execution of Ahmed as the president is yet to sign the execution letter.
The court has severally executed dozens of military and Al-shabaab who were found guilty of carrying out assassinations or masterminding other offences.
