NAIROBI (Halbeeg News) – Kenyan prosecutors have filed charges against a Somali national who had illegally obtained a Kenyan national Identity Card at a Nairobi based court.
Abdihakim Saidi Jama, who has been detained for the last 12 days was arraigned in Kilimani court. Jama who appeared before magistrate Zainab Abdul has pleaded not guilty to the charge of obtaining registration by false pretense contrary to section 320 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution stated that between March 1, 2011 and June 3, 2011 while in Isiolo within Isiolo County in the Republic of Kenya, Jama jointly with others not before court, willfully procured a Kenyan National Identity Card number 29651299 in the name of Abdihakim Saidi Jama by falsely pretending that he were the son of Fatuma Mohamed of Kenyan National Identity Card number 00007005, a fact he knew to be false.
The magistrate released him on the Sh30,000 plus two contact persons and set the mention of the case on July 25. The prosecutor did not object to the bail terms despite Jama being a flight risk.
Initially, the 24-year-old was arrested in Isiolo and arraigned before a Makadara Law Court, Nairobi, where police were allowed to detain him for 14 days to complete investigations.
Jama is also said to have tried to dispossess his employer of business in Nairobi’s Eastleigh, Ayni Hussein. Muhamud claims the suspect had registered her boutique shops belonging in his name.
