Somali Federal interior ministry has started ten-days training course for the members of Hudur town council in Southwest state.
The workshop, which will focus on leadership and good governance, is jointly implement by Southwest state interior ministry and Hudur local authorities.
The capacity building sessions will also analyze the role and functions of the town council, constitution and policies.
Abdirisak Isak Mohamed, the head of the town’s department of development and rebuilding said the workshop will be sharpen and strengthen the capabilities of the workers of Hudur town.
“The course is implemented by Bakool regional authorities in collaborating with the administration of Hudur town, it is meant for empowering and enhancing the capabilities of members of the local council, which of course is the backbone of the town,” said Mohamed.
Osman Ali Aymoy, an official from Southwest state ministry for interior pointed out that the training would play very significant role in expansion of administration and maintaining law and order in the region.
“This workshop is important, it will teach councilors on good governance and how to cope up with the challenges,” he noted.
He called on the members attending the training to execute their time to gain skills that could be implemented services to the town.
“This [Training] is an opportunity that comes once in a blue moon, it has taken long before it is materialized today. All the way from the federal level to the town as it needs much time and hard work, it was not achieved easily, please make sure to make good use of this opportunity,” he advised the attendees.
Somali government together with regional states has been carrying out initiatives to devolve administrative levels across the nation.
