MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – The Federal government of Somalia has denied media reports on the meeting between President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and US ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter.
Somali ambassador to Kenya, Mohamud Ahmed Nur Tarsan confirmed ambassador McCarter visit to Mogadishu but said there was no meeting with President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo as reported by Kenyan Newspaper, the Daily Nation.
“I want to inform Somali people that there was no meeting between President Farmajo and US ambassador to Kenya during his visit to Mogadishu months ago.” Ambassador Tarsan said.
Somali envoy further urged the leading Kenya Newspaper to get the facts right on its reporting regarding the meeting.
According to the Daily Nation Newspaper interview, the US ambassador in Nairobi urged Somalia and Kenya to address the maritime case quickly saying his country is working to get the leaders of the two countries to the discussion table.
“We have been working to get President [Mohamed Abdullahi)] Farmajo and President Kenyatta to come to the discussion table.” Ambassador Kyle McCarter told Daily Nation.
The International Court of Justice postponed the public hearing in the maritime boundary case between Somalia and Kenya to 8th June next year on Thursday last week.
