MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh has called on the end of the Las-Anod crisis which lives of close to a dozen people during demonstrations in northern Somalia.
In a statement by Villa Somalia, President Mohamud called on Somaliland authorities to find a solution to the Las-anod crisis without bullets.
“The President sent his deepest condolences to the families, and all the relatives of those who died in the demonstrations in Lasanood, and he noted that the Somali people have gone through many problems. The Federal Government gives great priority to stability, peace, strengthening the brotherhood and coexistence of the Somali people,” the president said.
The businesses in Las Anod town in the Sool region remained closed for the fourth day as hundreds of people continue to stage violent protests against Somaliland.
People in Las-Anod took to the streets to protest over the killings of several people, including elders and politicians in the town. The locals were calling for justice and peace.
The latest demonstration erupted following the killing of a well-known political figure named Abdifatah Abdullahi Hadrawi by unknown gunmen in the town this week. The murder sparked the people’s anger.
