MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali government has demanded an investigation into the death of an SNA recruit who died in Uganda amid claims of organ harvesting.
Addressing the media in Mogadishu, Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdikhadir Mohamed Nur has dismissed that the death of the soldier was due to organ harvesting.
The minister said the Somali government has asked for an autopsy to be performed on the soldier’s body to determine the cause of death. Nur insists that the soldier who fell ill during the training died at Lubaga Hospital in Kampala.
“We asked for an autopsy to be conducted to confirm the cause of his death. The government will share his information once the body is returned to Somalia. I believe the surgery was misinterpreted, and the family was misinformed,” said the defence minister.
The development comes days after a photo of the body of the soldier who was identified as Mohamed Hassan Mohamed circulated on social media with some local media claiming that some of his organs were harvested.
Mohamed, a 19-year-old Somali boy was reportedly recruited by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Mogadishu into the Security Forces undergoing training in Uganda.
