MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reshuffled diplomats in a new move to boost international diplomacy.
Ambassador Abyan Mohamed Salah who was Somalia’s ambassador to India will serve as an envoy to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
Former representative to Geneva, Fatuma Abdullahi Mohamed Insaniya will be the new ambassador in New Delhi as a replacement.
The diplomats were recalled to Mogadishu for consultations before they take up their new assignments officially.
Former envoy to Geneva was summoned, Fatuma Insaniya was summoned back home last month after Somalia mysteriously abstained on vote condemning Israeli occupation of Golan Heights of Syria.
Somalia has about 40 diplomatic missions across the globe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closed down several consulates in an effort to restructure foreign policy.
