KHARTOUM (Halbeeg News) – The Federal Government of Somalia has issued security alert for its citizens in Sudan on Thursday
The move follows political development in the country after the military took over the power amid the resignation of President Omar Hassan Al- Bashir.
“Somali citizens in the country should be cautious and show restraint regarding the political tension in Sudan, ” a statement from Somali Embassy in Khartoum sent to the newsrooms has said.
“Somali citizens must avoid areas close to the demonstrations, ” the embassy added.
Sudanese Defense Minister Ibn Auf has announced military takeover on state television on Thursday.
“I announce as minister of defense the toppling of the regime and detaining its chief in a secure place,” Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf said on Thursday.
“The armed forces will take power with the representation of the people to pave the way for Sudanese people to live in dignity.”
He declared three months of state of emergency and airspace closure for 24 hours and border shut down until further notice.
